July 23, 1991 - March 11, 2013

Ms. Lashunaqa Shaquanta Ilesa Cooper, 21, of Elm City, North Carolina, departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2013, along with her precious three year old son, Ji’Quel Sincere Copeland, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.

Lashunaqa Cooper age twenty-one was born July 23, 1991 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to Lawanda Cooper Alston (Jasper Alston, step-father) and Moses Whitaker (Sylvania Whitaker, step-mother).

She graduated in the class of 2011 from Rocky Mount Senior High. Lashunaqa was employed with Andy’s in Sharpsburg, North Carolina, IHOP in Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and on her first day of employment with Domino’s Pizza of Sharpsburg, North Carolina, God called her home.

She was preceded in death by son, Ji'Quez Heavenly Cooper on October 9, 2012; her paternal grandfather, Moses Whitaker, Sr.; great grandmothers, Mattie Bullock and Sallie Wood.

In addition to her parents, cherished memories and her legacy of love will forever remain with her five brothers, DeFonta Cooper, DeQuan Cooper and Jasper Alston, Jr. (step-brother) all of Elm City, NC, Xavien Whitaker and Ja-mal Alston (step-brother) both of Rocky Mount, NC; four sisters, LaTasia Cooper of Elm City, NC, Lliyah Harrison, Alasia Pitman (step-sister) and Brittany Alston all of Rocky Mount, NC; maternal grandmother, Mary Cooper; paternal grand-mother, Carether Lyons; maternal grandfather, William Coo-per of Wilson, NC; two great grandmothers; four aunts, Tak-ina Cooper, Azalia Lyons, Selaite Ricks, and Litifah Joyner all of Rocky Mount, NC; three uncles, Alton Bulluck (Nekitia), Chester Lyons, and Maurice Lyons all of Rocky Mount, NC; two special friends, Dyesha Williams and Nicole Avent, and a host of many great aunts, great uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Visitation for Ms. Cooper will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 12:00 Noon, on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount, NC. Pastor James D. Gailliard will be officiating. The interment will take place immediately after the Service in Baker's Cemetery in Rocky Mount, NC.

These professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 325 Nash Street in Rocky Mount, NC.
