Mrs. Joquita Macklin Spruill, age 49, (formerly of Rocky Mount) departed this life peacefully early in the morning on Thursday January 15, 2009 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee. She was born in Edgecombe County on September 1,1959 to the late Herman Lorenza Macklin and Flora Lane Macklin.

Joquita(fondly known as JoJo) graduated from West Edgecombe High School and attended Morgan State University. She was married to her husband of 28 years, Carver Earl Spruill and to their union are five sons. JoJo was employed in accounting for the corporate office of Hospital Corporate of America(HCA)in Nashville,Tennessee.

Preceding JoJo in death were her father, Herman L. Macklin; brother,Karl A. Macklin, Sr. and mother-in-law, Eliza Spruill.

Honoring her memory are: her loving and devoted husband, Carver Earl; her five sons, Alrik Carver; Aric Earl; Major Herman; Emmanuel Macklin; Carver Earl, Jr. all of the home; three grandchildren, Alana; Jaylan, and Kaleb; her mother, Flora Lane Macklin-Rocky Mount;her brothers, Kenneth L.Macklin-Rocky Mount;Renaldo L.Macklin(Jacqueline)-Memphis,Tennessee; her sisters, Brenda M. Bynum(John)-Rocky Mount;Juaria M. Hogan(Jerry)-Raleigh;Tamara M. Dickey(Clyde)-Jamestown,NY; her father-in-law. Rev.Jasper Spruill-Rocky Mount; brothers-in-law, Robert Spruill(Mary)- Winston-Salem;Wade Spruill(Marisa)-Rocky Mount;Gilbert Spruill(Lillian)-Rocky Mount;sister-in-law, Mittie Bell Spruill-Upper Marlboro, MD; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces,nephews, and other relatives and many, many, friends.

The viewing will be held Friday,January 23 from 5-7pm at H. D. Pope Funeral Home Chapel in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Battle officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to American Cancer Society.
